Our mission is to advance worldwide
public understanding and appreciation of the visual arts
through the work of Sir Frank Bowling
Our work
Our work includes education and outreach programmes; bursaries and funding opportunities; public loans from the Foundation’s art collection and archive; and research and publication relating to Sir Frank’s work.
Established in 2024, the Foundation holds the Frank Bowling Archive and a collection of artworks. These provide a comprehensive overview of Sir Frank’s oeuvre and include paintings, preparatory drawings, photographs, correspondence, exhibition catalogues, studio objects, writings, and audiovisual. Each year, we lend a substantial number of works to public exhibitions around the world, ensuring that Sir Frank’s work remains in active dialogue with audiences globally.
At the heart of our work is a commitment to education and outreach. We aim not only to introduce Sir Frank’s life and work to diverse audiences, from schoolchildren and teachers to university scholars, curators, and the public, but also, to shape how his work is encountered, studied, and used as a catalyst for learning.
Through bursaries, funding opportunities, public loans, and ongoing research, the Foundation will continue Bowling’s longstanding commitment to nurturing creativity, curiosity and confidence in future generations.
